With Brian Mooney (basses) and Nadav Snir-Zelniker (drums). \nNEIL ALEXANDER is a world renowned Pianist\, Synthesist\, Keyboardist & Composer who works with music in all forms and styles (including jazz\, rock\, funk\, blues\, electronica\, ambient and contemporary classical). In a career spanning more than 4 decades Neil has made his mark on the local and international music scenes\, having toured the US\, Europe\, Mexico and Canada. I addition to his long running original music project Neil Alexander & NAIL he has toured with successful acts such as The Machine\, The Mahavishnu Project\, Marty Balin\, Corey Glover (among others) and performed with a who’s who of local artists such as Tim Moore\, local hip hop phenom Decora (for whom he was musical director for 4 years)\, Pee Wee Ellis\, Ted Orr\, Jesse Gress\, Blue Food\, Jeff Siege Segal\, Tony “Thunder” Smith and many others. \nIn 2015 Neil was awarded Individual Artist Of The Year by the Orange County Arts Council and is currently endorsed by Moog Music. \nCurrently Neil is in several performing ensembles including “NAIL“\, “Cloudburst“\, the “X Ensemble”\, “Mr. GONE“ and Supercluster\, and performs experimental electronic music under the name “Nail Jung“. His most recent self produced CD releases include “Check Your Vibration” (Nail Jung)\, “Solos/Duos/Trios” (Neil Alexander) and a pair of live recordings – A Solo Piano performance of the “Rite Of Spring” from 2013\, and a live performance by NAIL at the Blue Note in NYC. In October of 2016 Neil premiered the “X Ensemble“\, an 11 piece acoustic/electric Chamber music group in a concert of contemporary and original chamber works at the Ritz Theater in Newburgh NY. In 2021 the X Ensemble premiered a new piece entitled “Convergence: Series A”\, composed by Neil for an octet\, and in 2018 they appeared at the Interactive art festival “Dusklit” in Sugar Loaf NY where they performed a site specific work played at the moment of Sunset. in 2019 Neil Alexander & NAIL celebrated their 20th anniversary with multiple shows around the region. Their most recent CD is titled “Live at the Blue Note“. \nNeil has also been involved in Modern Dance and Ballet\, as a composer and accompanist\, working with such Choreographers as Kevin Wynn\, Molly Poerstel\, Larry Clark\, Lane Gifford and Jonathan Riedel\, as well as SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance students and faculty where he worked from 1992-2019. His compositions have featured many times as part of the Conservatory’s Nanang Academy of Fine Arts exchange program in Singapore. \nFrom 2012-2013 Neil performed a solo piano concert series titled “100 Years Of Spring“\, celebrating the centennial of Stravinsky’s “Rite Of Spring” with a stunning solo piano arrangement\, and released his 1st solo piano CD “Darn That Dream: Solo Piano Vol. 1” to critical acclaim. Volume 2 was released in March of 2018 and featured a live recording of “Le Sacre”. \nNeil’s other projects include Solo performances (both acoustic and/or electronic) and “Scene Re-seen”\, live electronic scoring of silent films. DESCRIPTION:David Gilmore – guitar \nTyler Blanton – vibes \nCarlo DeRosa – bass \nBen Perowsky – drums \nDAVID GILMORE has recorded and performed with many of today’s most influential modern artists. He has worked with Wayne Shorter (appearing on Mr. Shorter’s Grammy Award winning album\, High Life (Verve))\, Dave Douglas\, Muhal Richard Abrams\, Sam Rivers\, Steve Coleman\, Cassandra Wilson\, Don Byron\, Uri Caine\, Randy Brecker\, David Sanborn\, Ron Blake\, Carolyn Leonhart and Christian McBride\, among many others. \nIn addition to his significance presence on the international touring scene\, Gilmore has also appeared on over 50 recordings\, including two of his own as leader. His first CD\, Ritualism (2001) received international critical praise and was nominated for the 2001 Debut CD of the Year by the Jazz Journalists Association. \nGilmore has even made notable contributions to such pop acts as Me’shell N’Degeocello\, Melissa Etheridge\, Joan Osbourne\, Mavis Staples\, Issac Hayes\, Boz Scaggs\, Tommy Lang of Austria\, Rise Robots Rise\, and Japan’s Monday Michiru. He has also toured extensively with multi-platinum artist Joss Stone. DownBeat Magazine’s Critic’s Poll voted Gilmore a “Rising Star.” \nGilmore’s playing has been compared to guitarists as diverse as George Benson\, Wes Montgomery\, Jimi Hendrix and Leo Nocentelli. He is committed to an improvisational approach that reflects a global awareness. One result of this global ethic\, the work “African Continuum” – enabled by a CMA New Works Composer Grant– was premiered to the public in Spring 2003. \nIn addition to recording and touring\, Gilmore teaches Guitar Studies at the prestigious Berklee College of Music where he is an Associate Professor. He also conducts master classes around the world\, giving him an opportunity to share his talents\, concepts and experiences with new generations of young musicians. \nMore recently David was the recipient of a 2008 Chamber Music America\, New Jazz Works Composer’s grant. \nVibraphonist and composer Tyler Blanton is becoming recognized as a rising star in the New York City jazz scene. Over the past five years\, his work has received notice by numerous major publications including Downbeat\, Jazztimes\, Village Voice\, and The New York Times. Blanton’s second studio album as a leader\, Gotham\, is scheduled for release in March\, 2014. \nA native of California\, Blanton took the plunge and permanently relocated to New York City in 2007\, settling in Brooklyn. Upon his arrival\, he took on a strong presence as a band leader and composer\, quickly connecting with many influential players in the scene and performing around town at venues such as Smalls\, La Lanterna\, and Cornelia St Cafe. The culmination of Blanton’s first two years in New York is reflected in his 2010 debut album\, “Botanic\,” which featured drummers Richie Barshay and Jared Schonig\, bassists Aidan Carroll and Dan Loomis\, and saxophonist Joel Frahm. Upon its release\, “Botanic\,” garnered considerable notice\, earning reviews in Downbeat and Jazztimes magazines\, as well as being chosen as a top album of the year by both Hot House and Village Voice Critic’s polls that year. \nBen Perowsky’s notable career has placed him among a small vanguard of players able to move between jazz\, experimental music and cutting edge pop and rock. He cut his teeth as a youth playing drums for the likes of Rickie Lee Jones\, John Cale\, Roy Ayers\, James Moody\, Bob Berg\, Mike Stern and Michael Brecker. Broke ground driving back beats for NY bands Elysian Fields and Joan as Policewoman as well as John Lurie’s Lounge Lizards. He Co-founded the electric jazz group Lost Tribe and has continued to record and perform with pop and jazz legends such as John Scofield\, Belle and Sebastian\, John Zorn\, Dave Douglas\, Lou Reed\, Pat Martino\, Tegan and Sara\, Uri Caine\, Steven Bernstein\, Walter Becker\, Vernon Reid\, Loudon\, Martha and Rufus Wainwright. Ben has produced 8 critically acclaimed records to date. He currently plays in a band called RedCred with John Medeski and Chris Speed. \n  \nSince moving to New York City in 1993 bassist Carlo De Rosa has had the opportunity to work with many great artists in the Latin and Jazz World. This has led to diverse musical and cultural experiences and has allowed Carlo to work with a wide variety of artists such as Ray Barretto\, Ravi Coltrane\, William Cepeda\, Bruce Barth\, Dave Valentin\, Ed Thigpen\, Nick Brignola\, Mickey Roker\, Steve Turre\, Miguel Zenon\, Hilton Ruiz\, Ralph Alessi\, Candido Camero\, Jason Moran\, Papo Vasquez and the NYC Ballet. \nHe collaborates and performs with many other great artists including: Vijay Iyer\, Allison Miller\, Ingrid Jensen\, Sam Newsome\, Rudresh Mahanthappa\, Mark Shim\, Luis Perdomo\, Dave Allen\, Chembo Corniel\, Lucian Ban\, Andrea Brachfeld\, Amir ElSaffar\, Elio Villafranca\, and Victor Prieto. \nAs a US Jazz Ambassador in 1999 Carlo traveled to South Africa\, Mauritius\, Madagascar\, Kenya\, Tanzania\, and Zimbabwe. In 1974 he got a call to play French horn with legendary jazz arranger Gil Evans\, and Gil made him a regular. As an experiment\, Pete brought a Moog synthesizer to an Evans gig. Gil loved it and Pete’s role was permanently changed\, beginning the transformation of the band into the electronic/acoustic hybrid sound that won 2 Grammy awards. Among the first to explore synthesizers during the 70s\, Pete became a sought-after sideman for studio and live gigs. As an arranger and musician he worked on dozens of film scores\, hundreds of jazz and pop records\, and countless TV and radio commercials. Over the years\, interspersed with Gil Evans\, Paul Simon\, Annie Lennox and  Jimmy Giuffre tours\, Pete has done arranging and electronic music for feature films including MISSING IN ACTION\, THE COLOR OF MONEY and STAR TREK. He composed the orchestral score for the independent film ZELIMO\, composed an original music score for a stage production of THE DYBBUK\, did the official band/chorus arrangement of the U.S. Infantry song and composed the anthem for the 1992 United Nations Earth Summit\, performing it in the U.N. Since he and his wife\, Roni own Lydia’s Cafe\, he gets to play there whenever he wants and can usually entice musicians who play better than he does to play in his band.\nAfter receiving his Bachelor of Music degree (BM) from the University of North Texas many\, many years ago\, Mark went on to make a tolerable living playing guitar and teaching until he came to the realization that his chances of finding a woman who would put up with his BS and his meager income would be greatly improved if he had a real job. In the late 80’s\, Mark moved to Stone Ridge after living in Dallas and Tucson and began designing and building houses. It worked! He met and married Roni and in 2006 they bought the Country Deli from Roni’s mom\, Lydia and thus began the saga of Lydia’s Cafe\, a struggling music venue and gaping money pit which brings us to the present situation.\nMark has assembled a dream team of musicians whose sole purpose in life has been to prepare them to perform Mark’s original compositions and to provide beautiful solos over his weird chord changes. The pieces are representative of a range of styles from jazz to Latin to funk to classical and feature memorable melodies and a somewhat unique harmonic approach. \nDream Team \nSince 1982\, trumpeter Ron Horton has been an integral part of New York’s flourishing jazz scene and he stands out both as an exemplary instrumentalist and as a highly progressive composer and arranger. Whether called upon as a sideman or as a leader of one of his own ensembles\, he shows that he is committed to further expanding the existing perimeters of jazz. \nHorton has had many long musical associations with leaders such as saxophonist Jane Ira Bloom (1983-2000) and pianist Andrew Hill. He was a member of Hill’s sextet from 1998 until 2003\, and appears on the group’s critically acclaimed cd\, Dusk (Palmetto 2000). He was a part of the internationally acclaimed National Guitar Workshop for 25 years and has been a part of the Crown of the Continent International Guitar Festival since its birth.\nMark is a published author and a featured soloist and composer on numerous recordings. He continues to explore the world of improvised live and virtual music and can be found performing often in the area and abroad.\n____________________\nPianist/composer Peter Tomlinson holds a BFA from SUNY New Paltz. He hasalso studied with Barry Harris\, Warren Bernhardt and Mulgrew Miller. \nPeter has been an adjunct professor at Western Connecticut since 1990. He has also taught instrumental music and directed stage bands\, grade 3-12\, for the Paul Effman Music Service since 1992. In 2006 Peter became an associate professor of jazz piano at Vassar College. Other teaching experiences include jazz clinics and coaching high school All-State jazz bands. \nRecordings include albums with Grammy Award winner Jay Ungar\, “The Lover’s Waltz”\, and Mark Dziuba\, “Son of Cramdon”\, also featuring Adam Nussbaum and Jay Anderson. Of Peter’s own albums\, “Momentum” \, on the Compose label\, featured musicians include Dick Oatts\, Dave Douglas and Jimmy Cobb. Other musicians Peter has worked with include Ron Carter\, Hubert Laws\, Laurel Masse\, jazz tap legend Honi Coles and singer/songwriter Natalie Merchant.\n______________________\nDrummer Bram Kincheloe is a professional musician\, writer\, and small business owner. He started studying drums with renowned teacher Barbara Borden at the age of four. At eleven\, he graduated to her teacher\, Chuck Brown\, who had also taught Terry Bozzio\, Will Kennedy\, and Dave Garibaldi. He was the youngest student ever accepted into Chuck Brown’s studio. In 2002\, Bram\, then aged sixteen\, moved to New York City on his own to pursue a career in jazz drumming. He attended Laguardia School of Performing Arts for one year before being accepted into Manhattan School of Music. While at Manhattan\, attending on a Zildjian scholarship\, he studied with Justin DiCioccio. Through the years playing jazz\, he has been honored to play with Lee Konitz\, Branford Marsalis\, Ambrose Akinmusire\, Wynton Marsalis\, Ben Street\, Steve Cardenas and many others. \nIn 2005\, Bram moved to Amsterdam to study abroad through a sister program at the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam\, where he was involved in the creative music scene in Holland. Around this time\, he also started seriously pursuing a parallel career in writing. \nBram is an accomplished singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist and plays piano\, keyboards\, guitar\, and bass in addition to drums. He also has a degree from the Institute of Audio Research\, having studied production techniques and ProTools. He is the owner/operator of Semperviren Studios\, a full-service professional production studio with 26 channels of inputs\, a full backline of world class instruments\, and more\, in the Hudson Valley. \nHis debut novel\, Hitchhiking in the Graveyard\, was recently named the runner-up winner in the 2018 Faulkner-Wisdom Creative Writing competition. In early 2015\, Bram was hired by SB Nation to cover the Golden State Warriors for the popular site Golden State of Mind\, a subsidiary of Vox Media. From 1986-1987\, Peter toured Europe with Mark McMillan (songwriter for Chaka Khan). \nIn early 1988\, Peter moved from NYC to Woodstock\, New York\, and soon began working with John Hall. In 1989\, Peter became a member of Hall’s band Orleans (Still The One\, Dance With Me). Peter has appeared on seven CD’s (four with Orleans\, three with Hall)\, three tours of Japan (two with Orleans\, one with Hall)\, and countless US tours and dates (including Woodstock ‘94) and was the subject of a feature article published in Modern Drummer’s Rhythm and News (Japan). Peter toured and recorded with Orleans through 2004. Peter also freelanced throughout this period and did other major tours with Dr. Lonnie Smith (Spain 1992)\, Rory Block (US and Europe 1996-7) and Tracy Nelson (US 1998). \n2014-15 has been a very busy time for Peter as he has returned to touring with Orleans (including dates playing with Paul Barrere and Fred Tachette fro Little Feat) as well as continued work with both John Esposito (quintet recording featuring Greg Glassman\, Stacy Dillard\, and Ira Coleman) and Christine Spero (Spero plays Nyro project revisiting Laura Nyro’s music to much critical acclaim from both live performances at Mountain Jam\, The Cutting Room(nyc) & others and new CD) and many others. \nIn addition to his busy performance schedule\, Peter teaches at home and at Bard College and freelances as a studio session player. He has played on national jingles for Continental Airlines\, AT&T\, Macy’s and Burger King. He has also worked as a clinician at Bard College\, SUNY New Paltz\, and Western Connecticut University.

He grew up on Long Island\, New York. After graduating high school\, he enrolled in the prestigious New England Conservatory of Music. There he received a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies with Honors in Performance. \n​While living in the Boston area\, Rob formed and led his own groups\, including the True Colors Big Band. In 1988 he moved to New York\, where he formed the Rob Scheps Core-tet and the Bartokking Heads\, firmly establishing himself on the jazz scene.  \n​Not content to limit himself\, Rob continued to take on new challenges.  He formed new bands on both coasts.  He served as a faculty member at the Mannes College of Music.  He worked with contemporary music ensembles.  All while performing with some of the most noted and influential big bands of our age\, such as the Gil Evans Orchestra and the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra.  \n​In addition to his jazz credentials\, Rob been an active part of the classical\, theater\,  and popular music communities.  For 13 years\, he served as the Principal Saxophone with the Oregon Symphony.  He was part of the national tour of Porgy and Bess with the Charleston Symphony\, and the New York City Opera orchestra for Wonderful Town.  He has worked on Broadway on productions such as CATS and Miss Saigon.  He has appeared with such legends as Aretha Franklin\, Ray Charles\, Liza Minnelli\, and Linda Ronstadt.  His range is best shown by viewing his ‘Performances’ page\, showing the diversity of those with whom he has worked. \n​Rob has recorded on over 35 albums. After moving to New York State’s Hudson Valley in the mid 1980’s he began a long-standing stint in the Nick Brignola Quartet playing clubs\, festivals\, and recording sessions. DESCRIPTION:Marty Elkins – vocals \nPeter Tomlinson – keys \nLew Scott – bass \nLarry Balestra – drums \n  \n\n\nMarty Elkins was born in Jersey City\, New Jersey.  As a child she listened mostly to the soul stations in New York\, and the late night R&B shows like Jocko’s Rocket Ship.  She left there for college in Boston\, and while in college was given a copy of Ella Fitzgerald and Ellis Larkins.  She was also exposed to Charlie Parker\, Al Cohn and Zoot Sims\, and Louis Jordan\, but the life changing day was when she found a copy of Billie Holiday’s “Lady in Satin” in a local Woolworth bin in Cambridge\, Massachusetts. Literally holing up in her room with this recording\, and a Bessie Smith record she acquired\, she became devoted to jazz and began listening to it exclusively.  She had the good fortune to meet musicians in that area who played jazz such as Herb Pomeroy\, Ray Santisi\, Jimmy Mosher\, and Dave McKenna among others.  Dave McKenna had a steady gig at the Copley Plaza\, and he encouraged her to sing with him there.  She landed a gig singing with a vocal trio in Bo Winiker’s band\, floating around the Boston harbor singing Andrew Sisters songs. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMarty keeps you believing… Her voice has a glowing roundness\, she hit notes without strain and she swings… \n\nZan Stewart\, Downbeat Magazine (6/01) \n4 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFinding not many other opportunities to sing up there\, she moved to New York in the early eighties. Meeting more musicians in the few remaining clubs from the Fifty-Second street era – Jimmy Ryan’s and Eddie Condon’s – she began singing with Max Kaminsky’s band to enable Max to get off the bandstand and sell his book.  The Runyonesque club owner began paying her to do so\, and she began doing some gigs with Spanky Davis’ “Jimmy Ryan All Stars” at the Cat Club.  She then spent some years in “the trenches” playing various bars and restaurants in the New York area. Fortunately\, she always had the pleasure of singing with excellent musicians.  She had a steady gig at Cousin’s in Brooklyn with Tardo Hammer and Lee Hudson\, and really began to develop her style with them.  There was also a steady gig at the Savoy Lounge in midtown Manhattan\, which was with a young organ trio – Adam Scone\, Coleman Mellett and Craig Wuepper.  She was in a vocal group\, also\,  “The Sweethots”\, and with them worked with the Stan Rubin Band and the Cab Calloway Orchestra\, under the direction of Christopher Calloway Brooks. That trio did a radio show with Spanky Davis\, Clarence Hutchenrider (the clarinetist featured on the 1930’s hit record “Smoke Rings” by the Casa Loma Orchestra) and Vince Giordano. Recently she has been performing at the well-known New York jazz spots Smalls\, Mezzrow and the 55 Bar. \nOutside of New York City in the tri-state area\, Marty has been appearing at the Falcon Art Center in Marlboro\, NY with “The Saints of Swing”\, Jazz Vespers at the First Presbyterian Church of Phillipstown\, in Cold Spring\, NY\, and various small restaurants and private events with the Bob Wylde Trio.  She was invited to be part of the Jazz\, Blues and Gospel Festival at the Las Vegas Hilton in 2103 and did a tour of Germany with the Martin Sasse Trio after the release of her first CD. \nThe wonderful indie label\, Nagel-Heyer records got her international attention\, having released “Fuse Blues”\, the critically acclaimed debut and “In Another Life” – a duo effort with Dave McKenna. \n“Marty Elkins runs her own voodoo down.  It will remind you of no one else out there.  Her voice is always doing those things a jazz singer will do.  Marty Elkins is a jazz singer…”  Stanley Crouch\, liner notes on Fuse Blues (Nagel-Heyer Records) \nMarty has now established her own record label\, Elktone – which is distributed by Jazzheads. DESCRIPTION:Trumpeter Josh Deutsch and guitarist Nico Soffiato have been playing together as a duo since 2006\, when they met in Boston. He has been featured on over 400 recordings\, seven of which have received the Grammy Award. His original recordings  “NEXT EXIT” (DMP)\,  “LOCAL COLOR” (DMP)\, and “DEEPSCAPE” (Steeplechase) have received critical acclaim both in the U.S. and abroad. Jay has conducted clinics around the world and is a Professor of Jazz Bass Studies at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City and New Jersey City University. \nTony Jefferson\, a New York native\, attended the Berklee College of Music on scholarship in 1984 and placed third in the Thelonious Monk International Drum Competition in 1992. Tony has performed and recorded with many jazz artists including: Kenny Drew Jr.\, Lonnie Smith\, Lou Donaldson\, Frank Wess\, Eddie Harris\, Don Friedman\, Cyrus Chestnut\, Mark Whitfield\, Jerry Bergonzi\, Joey Calderazzo\, Freddy Cole\, Hank Jones\, Benny Golson\, Cedar Walton\,\nNancy King\, Ernestine Anderson\, Annie Ross and the Westchester Jazz Orchestra. \nAfter 20 years as a world class drummer on the jazz scene\, Tony Jefferson has segued into the world of singing. His diverse experience as a drummer and his passion for woodwinds led him to explore musical realms that inform his approach to singing. \nSome of Tony’s recent vocal performances have been: The Kitano Hotel in New York City\, The Princeton Jazz Festival in New Jersey\, Storm King Art Center\, NY\, The Dobbs Ferry SummerMusic Festival\, NY and the Hopper House in Nyack\, NY. Tony has stepped out from behind the drums to sing as a guest vocalist at the Iridium and the Blue Note Jazz clubs in Manhattan.
